Is Your Vision Better Without Glasses?

If you answered "Yes" to the big question above, good for you! You may have already started some eye improving techniques to help you see better without donning your glasses. Hats off to you and keep it up. But for those who, unfortunately, answered otherwise, there is still some hope.

For anyone who has experienced some form of visual problem and had your eyes checked, you probably have become acquainted with the Snellen chart. It is perhaps, and still, the most widely used eye exam in the world. Now, every time you set an appointment with your eye doctor, do you ever get the feeling of discomfort that instead of seeing some improvement with your vision it further deteriorated? Or, since you’ve been to the clinic a number of times, you might have memorized all the letters in the chart that you trick your doctor (and even yourself) into seeing better? Well, that is probably not a very good idea.

The truth is wearing glasses does not actually help fix your eye problem. Wearing those helps make you see things more clearly, but it is only a temporary fix. They are mainly made for the symptoms of eye problems and do not cure the actual ailment.

What artificial lenses do is it teaches your eyes to become dependent on them instead of letting the eyes heal themselves. And since your eyes are constantly changing, finding the perfect prescription for you is impossible. This is because a number of factors affects how well you can see. You may not know it but weather conditions, your overall health, daily disposition, distractions and other external stressors all play a role in your vision. If you go to a doctor when the weather is good, all bright and sunny, we typically feel better and we see things clearly. Compare this when it’s all gloomy and rainy outside. You will realize that the result will vary making your prescription not work the way you want them to.

So, are you ready to throw your glasses? Not too fast! After all, being able to see clearly even with spectacles on is way much better than going through a glass door or seeing things as if you’re in a dreamy state because everything else is a blur.

Here’s what you can do. Taper the amount of time you spend with your glasses on. Try not to wear them on a regular day and observe what happens. Of course things might be hazy at first but you need constant practice. Your eyes will start to adjust without using your lenses and things will become clearer. The technique is to free your mind of mental stress and eye strain. Do some relaxation, or even better, eye exercises. Doing this will strengthen the muscles in your eyes and in turn make your vision a lot better. If you practice this on a regular basis, you will be surprised at the results.

Making this as a habit will not be easy at first. It is hard when all your life you have been so dependent on your glasses that taking them away causes you too much apprehension. Remember, this should be done gradually. Do not overwhelm yourself on the pressure of seeing a quick fix. It does not work that way. Just like anything else in this world, it takes time. All you need to do is be patient enough. Find some inspiration and remember that you are doing this for yourself and not for any other person.

To top it all, not only will your vision become better without glasses but the amount you spend buying one prescription eyeglass to another could be splurge on something you’ve been wanting for a long time. Of course, you have to spend it wisely.
