Ways to Relax

Everybody carries some tensions with them. Sometimes, these tensions are small and can be ignored for a while, and you can still carry on. However, sometimes too much tensions or too much of stress in a situation causes anxiety, anger and even some health problems. Too much stress can affect a lot of things around you, it can affect your relationships, your physical health and your mental health. So, to live a better life, one should learn some ways to relax. But, one shouldn't just find a way to relax randomly, but experiment with many relaxation techniques, and find out what ways to relax suit the individual the most. Here are some suggestions of techniques that will help you to relax quickly and some other techniques which you can practice, to bring more harmony, balance and reduce tensions in life.

Quick Ways to Relax Your Mind
  • The easiest and simplest way to relax your mind and body is just to go to sleep. Take a short nap, and you will forget about all your worries.
  • If you are feeling very tensed or worried, follow some deep breathing relaxation techniques and you will soon see your mind and body relaxing.
  • Here is another quick way to relax yourself, just plug-in some meditation music and listen to couple of tracks totally and you will feel relaxed. This is one of the best ways to relax before bed.
  • Another quick way to relax yourself - do 5 rounds of your house running, then lie down on the floor. The physical exhaustion, will help your mind and body to relax.
  • Here is one of the good ways to relax your mind. You can use these ways to relax at work. When sitting at your desk, just take your hands below the desk, make fist and make them tense and hold for few seconds, then release them. Do this for 10 times, and you will feel find release of tension from your body.
  • You can use this technique for relaxation, but for this you will need a place like a hill or some place which is soundproof so that nobody can hear you. Just scream, shout, jump, yell for 2-3 minutes, then sit down and close your eyes, and you will feel a calmness. You can also try doing this technique, in a mute mode if you can't find a soundproof place.

  • Above techniques are good to bring quick relaxation, when you are very much stressed out. Here are some ways to relax your mind, that you can use everyday. To find out which technique, suits you the most you will need to experiment with few, before you settle down with a calming technique.
  • The best is to join a meditation camp, where you can participate for few days or weeks, and learn some meditation technique. One of the oldest and most calming is the Vipassana mediation technique. There are worldwide centers of Vipassana meditation, and these camps are absolutely free. Go to their dharma site, to find a mediation center near your place.
  • Yoga is another meditation technique, that can help you relax, many fitness centers have yoga classes happening, you can enroll for them, or find a personal yoga instructor.
  • There are other techniques that can help to learn how to relax your mind everyday. There are Tantra, Tibetan, Buddhist, Tao, hypnosis, visualization, etc. techniques that you can try out.
These were just a few suggestions on ways to relax. Use any of the quick ways to relax when you are stressed out. But, to remain more peaceful and centered practicing a meditation technique everyday is advised. Here is an ancient Chinese proverb on relaxation, that you can contemplate on for relaxing - "Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are."
